Long Overdue Observation

i just thought this was funny when it popped into my head this morning.

funny because i should have thought of it long ago and i'm sure that i'm not the first to think this.

the big point comes after my little spiel.. so, god tells noah to build an ark because he has a lot of killing of the wicked to do and only noah and his family seem to be good enough.

There are many more ancient stories of a "flood" (Gilgamesh etc). Archiologists theory is that there was a big flood in that area (the part of the "world/earth" they were familiar with) and it was orally passed down thru other non-Noah (if he ever existed) cultures. The moral of this story is "be good or God will kill you.......and your little dog too"!

Why do Jw's have to pay for CO's expenses?

this is something that has always bothered me!.

why do rank and file have to pay for co's do's expenses, car, health insurance, meals, etc, etc...?.

didn't the apostle paul say that all christians have to be self sufficient and work?, not depending on anyone else and cause a burden?.

The Corporation will always take it out of employees paychecks when they can.

hi all.... so my mom phoned me up this morning and said she needed to talk to me about something.

she asked me whether or not our (worldly) family thought that my husband and i were witnesses anymore.

one, someone in my family said to her, "i didn't know you guys wear short dresses like that" - commenting on a slightly above the knee dress i had worn to a family event.

I hope I didn't sound unkind. I just feel really strongly about this. Another thing to think of is your son's relationships with non JW relatives. When all the 'in family; is gone he will have no family. As far a making friends....it takes years. Because you have a son you will be in the clubs of the other mom's with kids your sons age. They make become lifelong friends. Join a group of something you'd like to do or learn. Classes are to short to build friends but Camping, Fishing, Book, Bowling, Cards, Elks, YMCA gyms, PTA, flying, horses, dog breed clubs, etc. You will meet people in your community and will find an easy bond with time. Make sure you invite them over....have kids days. You will not feel alone. All my heartfelt best to you. I wish someone had given me this advise when I was young.

Number 1. Why do you give the "opinions of family or a man made organization" so much clout. God gave you a brain. Show me the specific scripture that says the word...short skirt...smoking...tats...putting preaching time into a massive money making Corporation so they can show stats that they say shows THEY are the ONLY TRUTH. What's happening is like when the Priests started proclaiming their holiness by the length of the tassels on their robes. #2. Do you want your son to have normal friends, or be an outsider...a freak...lonely...uneducated...married to a dowdy girl who is supressed in thought. Brings to mind what Jesus said," You've made the word of God invaled because of YOUR traditions". Their fearful selfrighteous judgement is about themselves...not you. Do you really want your son to grow up without a sense of the future...having dreams...having goals? Wanting to plan for travel, being well read, a socially well balanced and great interpersonal conversationalist? Keep him within the walls of your families self imposed physical outward show of their interpretation of Christianity or the Corporations limitations will have the power to scar him on many levels. BE strong, be brave and just live well...don't discuss it with them. It's really crossing a big boundry for them to say what they do. A therapist of mine once said, "Being in a small congregation is like living in a small town....no boundries, no privacy and very limited contentment".

it seems that this question is used by elder to trap us and close their minds(the jw elder) to thinking.

if you answer no they wrap up a jc in short order.

i was wondering if any have tried to use a more pointed question to actually get them to think themselves.

i remember having been to a convention or a$$emby for however many days and when i came back i didn't want to go back to work/school because i felt on a buzz.. what was that all about????.

I remember the ASS embly in Pasadena CA. 8 days. The PA systems bouncing off each other. You would sit and sit and sit. I fainted dead away from heat exposure. My mom was freaked. Did she get it to not sit me in the sun the next few days. The big deal was always the release of a new book. Then you get home and read it and it's the same old shit. Sprinkled with implications the the "end was so near". It was such a waste of time and terrible exposure to mind control....tired, no movement, no thought, just fodder from the suits on the stage. Very bad.

anyway i am an m.s and have been disillusioned ever since the new understanding that came out in october.

i have read many things on this board that i have and also have not thought about.

Welcome! As I used to get info for my JW mom she would say that she only would read info from the publications. So I asked her, just where do you think the info they use comes from? The Society is VERY afraid of the internet. I contend that they make their own beliefs invalid because they do worship a trinity. THe bible says there is ONE Mediator etc. They have Jah, Jesus and the Gov. Bod.

Just yelled at my mom today

sorry to post this but for some reason after a year of not talking i got drunk this morning(yeah i know no lecture) and called my mom and blew up.

i tolded her she was a false prophet and a horriable christian mother who never even came to her grandson's birth by my wife.

my words came out like a river of rage from which i never knew.

I was mad at my mom for a long time. How gullible she was (not in other areas of life) to basically "give me to them". My anger is not with the individuals (well most of them) but at the "goobering booby". They are the source of the whole business. Yeah, send your mom a card. You don't want this last event to be your last with her.
